Judy Greer, Josh Hamilton and Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell will round out the Broadway cast of Dead Accounts, the new comedy by Theresa Rebeck. The trio joins previously announced stars Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes. Directed by Jack O’Brien, the play begins previews on November 3 and opens on November 29 at the Music Box Theatre.
Dead Accounts revolves around Jack (Butz), whose sudden return home throws his family—including sister Lorna (Holmes) and mother Barbara (Houdyshell)—into full crisis mode. Lorna presses for answers about Jack’s intentions, his new fortune and the whereabouts of his much-loathed wife Jenny (Greer). Hamilton will play Phil, a childhood friend of Jack’s.
Greer will make her Broadway debut. Her many film and TV credits include The Descendants, Two and a Half Men, Arrested Development and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Hamilton reunites with director O’Brien after having last appeared on Broadway in Tom Stoppard’s trilogy The Coast of Utopia. He also starred in the 2005 revival of Hurlyburly, as well as Kenneth Lonergan’s Medieval Play and Sam Mendes’ A Winter’s Tale.
Houdyshell received her second Tony Award nomination for her performance in last season’s revival of Follies. Her first nod came in 2006 when she made her Broadway debut in Well. She currently stars in Horton Foote’s Harrison, TX at off-Broadway’s Primary Stages.
